Melton Mowbray Victorian Christmas Fair Terms & Conditions

  1. In these Terms & Conditions (the "Conditions"):

    • "Event" means the Melton Mowbray Victorian Christmas Fair.
    • "The Promoter", "we", "us" and "our" means Melton Mowbray Town Estate (222142), organisers of the Melton Mowbray Victorian Christmas Fair and any associated promoter(s) of the Event.
    • "You" and "your" means you as the attendee.
  2. Your entry into the Event constitutes your acceptance of all of the Conditions set out below.
  3. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the full advertised performances take place as advertised, the Promoter reserves the right to change the published bill and/or running times without notification.
  4. The Promoter will not be liable to you for failure to perform any of our obligations to the extent that the failure is caused by force majeure.
  5. In the case of cancellation, personal arrangements including, but not limited to, travel, subsistence, accommodation etc. relating to the Event which have been arranged by you are at your own risk and the Promoter shall not be liable for any losses incurred from personal arrangements or wasted expenditure.
  6. The Promoter is unable to accept any liability for personal damages, losses, or injuries sustained at the Event. Any personal property brought to the Event is at your own risk.
  7. Please note it is a criminal offence to use false or borrowed ID to gain entry to licensed premises or to buy alcohol.
  8. Strictly no liquids, alcohol, illegal substances, "legal" highs, glass items, candles, gas canisters, flares, knives, laser equipment/pens, BBQs, megaphones, sound making equipment, nitrous oxide, animals (except assistance dogs), fireworks, smoke canisters, poles, banners or flags are allowed at the Event.
  9. Bags are subject to spot searches by our security team. Any bag that is refused entry to the Event remains the responsibility of the owner. There are no deposit facilities at the Event and any unattended bag found will be disposed of.
  10. Illegal substances, drugs and/or legal highs and herbal highs will not be tolerated. Bag searches will be in operation and if you are found to be in possession of or using any such substances you will be evicted from the Event site and/or handed over to the police.
  11. The Promoter shall be entitled to confiscate:
    1. any of the banned items listed above; and
    2. any other items which the Promoter considers may be used as weapons or are otherwise deemed by the Promoter to be dangerous or inappropriate.
    The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss, theft or damage to confiscated items.
  12. The Promoter reserves the right to evict anyone who they feel is behaving inappropriately at the Event. What constitutes "inappropriate behaviour" is at the sole discretion of the Promoter. Customers are to cooperate with and obey any instructions or directions given by the Event stewards, security or management.
  13. You may leave and re-enter the Event area during the Event.
  14. Personal searches may be conducted at the Event. Please arrive in good time, as searching upon entry to keep customers as safe as possible can take time but is a necessary procedure.
  15. The Promoter shall be entitled to evict from the Event anyone resisting confiscation of any disallowed items or items which the Promoter deems to be inappropriate, or anyone who is otherwise in breach of these Conditions or behaving in a manner which is likely to affect the safety or enjoyment of other persons at the Event.
  16. Customers are reminded that they are not to act in a way that is abusive, offensive, obscene or derogatory in nature, or defamatory to any third party. Anyone found dancing on tables, benches, chairs, etc. or acting inappropriately may be asked to leave the Event.
  17. The Promoter reserves the right to implement any restrictions/conditions deemed necessary before and during the Event to ensure the safe management of the Event site. You must at all times comply with any and all instructions given to you by Event staff.
  18. Victorian fancy dress is encouraged. There is no formal dress code.
  19. By entering the Event you give your express consent to being photographed, filmed or sound recorded as part of the audience, and to your name, voice and/or likeness being included within any film, photograph, audio or audio-visual recording of the Event to be exploited in any and all media for any purpose at any time throughout the world. This may also include filming by the police or security staff for the security of attendees at the Event or the prevention of crime.
  20. Strictly no trading is allowed on-site without the Promoter’s written consent.
  21. The Promoter reserves the right to alter the Terms & Conditions of the Event from time to time and will publish these as and when necessary.
  22. These Conditions are governed by English law and any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
  23. The Event venue operators, organisers, promoters, and artists cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged property, nor accidents resulting in injury occurring anywhere in, or outside, the venue during the Event regardless of fault or reason, unless through the gross negligence of the offending party.
  24. Guests are responsible for the security of all personal belongings.
  25. Any prohibited items will be confiscated upon entry.
  26. No professional cameras, video cameras or audio recording devices are permitted.
  27. A doctor’s note will permit food/drink required for medical conditions.
  28. The Melton Mowbray Town Estate has been given permission to close the roads outlined in the global traffic road order issued by Leicestershire County Council. Notice of road closures and traffic diversions will be displayed at each road 2 weeks prior to the Event. The road closure will operate from 07:00 on Thursday 27th to 00:00 on Sunday 30th November (as per the relevant order).

Examples of Terms and Conditions of Entry

The website will advertise the terms and conditions of entry. An example of some of the conditions is as follows:

Outdoor

  • This is an outdoor site; please be aware of ground and weather conditions and bring appropriate clothing for chilly evenings and appropriate footwear.
  • A valid photo ID is required to prove age. A "Challenge 25" system is in operation at the admissions gate and at all bars. No ID may mean no entry.
  • Prolonged exposure to amplified sound may cause permanent hearing damage.
  • The Event may use strobe lighting and smoke effects.
  • No refunds.
  • Dogs are not allowed on site unless they are guide/assistance dogs.
  • Strictly no illegal substances or "legal" highs. No NOS canisters or paraphernalia are permitted.
  • Search is a condition of entry and presence at the Event.
  • Wristbands are in operation and must be worn at all times for the duration of the Event.
  • Smoking is prohibited in enclosed public areas, including marquees, tents, and buildings.
  • Bringing food into the venue for specific dietary needs or requirements is at the discretion of security at the entrance on the day.

Indoor

  • A valid photo ID is required to prove age. A "Challenge 25" system is in operation at the admissions gate and at all bars. No ID may mean no entry.
  • Prolonged exposure to amplified sound may cause permanent hearing damage.
  • Strobe lighting and smoke effects may be used at the Event.
  • Smoking is prohibited in enclosed public areas such as marquees, tents, or buildings.
  • Dogs are not allowed on site unless they are guide/assistance dogs.
  • Strictly no illegal substances or "legal" highs. No NOS canisters or paraphernalia are permitted.
  • Bringing food into the venue for specific dietary needs or requirements is at the discretion of security at the entrance on the day.

Other Important Information

  • There are medical and welfare facilities on-site should you require assistance during the Event. Please familiarise yourself with their location on arrival.
  • This is a green field site; please treat the site with respect and be aware of ground conditions. Keep the site and surrounding streets tidy and use the litter bins provided.
  • Please be considerate of local residents, especially when leaving the Event. Keep noise to a minimum when arriving at or leaving the site.
  • Prolonged exposure to amplified sound may cause permanent hearing damage. If you are concerned, please talk to our welfare or medical teams.
  • Strobe lighting and smoke effects may be used at the Event.
  • The Event is outdoors; you are strongly advised to bring appropriate footwear, clothing and provisions (e.g. warm clothing for the night period, wet weather gear, etc.). Check weather reports before planning your day.
  • There are outlets on-site selling food and drink. Please drink responsibly, eat, and drink plenty of water.
  • No smoking is permitted in enclosed public areas; all smoking must take place outside the marquee.
  • No fires of any description are allowed on-site.
